Visit Island Ford with Trail Blazers in August

Join our next guided Trail Blazer walk on Saturday, August 9 at 8:30 am when we explore the Island Ford unit of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area with our guide, Amy Nicholas of the Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy!

The Island Ford Unit in Sandy Springs is home to the CRNRA headquarters and visitor center. It boasts 5.31 miles of trails, including riverside paths and forested loops, along with picnic areas and educational exhibits. We’ll learn about the history of the park, including its roots with Native Americans, natural features and facts of Island Ford and all of the CRNRA as well as plans to upgrade and enhance trails and amenities.

Our walk is expected to take about 1.5- 2 hours. Registration is required and space is limited.

$5 parking pass is required, card payment only at the park or purchase in advance online.

About SSC Trail Blazers

Sandy Springs Conservancy’s Trail Blazers is a series of monthly guided walks and hikes at local parks from March to October! Each month SSC Trail Blazers walks/hikes explore different parks in Sandy Springs and neighboring communities.  Trail Blazer events take place one Saturday morning a month and take about two hours.

Participants will meet at the scheduled park or trailhead location. Walks are limited to 25 participants. The minimum age to participate is 10 years old, and anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants must register and sign a liability waiver online. Registration is first come first served.  You will be contacted for cancellation/rescheduling in the case of inclement weather.
