Trail Blazers to Tour Big Trees Forest Preserve in July

Jun 10, 2025 | HOME, News

Join our guided Trail Blazer walk on Saturday, July 19 at 8:30 am when we explore the John Ripley Forbes Big Trees Forest Preserve with our guide, Randy Pollard of the Big Trees Forest Preserve board of directors.

Big Trees is a beautiful and unique 30-acre tree, plant, and wildlife sanctuary right off of Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. Once slated to be cleared to make way for a car sales lot, Big Trees was saved through a co-operative partnership with Southeast Land Preservation Trust, Fulton County, the State of Georgia and private citizens to purchase the land.  That joint conservation effort preserved a threatened environment which now thrives as an old-growth forest and wildlife sanctuary.

Please join us to learn about the trails within Big Tress and how the preserve is managed and protected.
Our walk is expected to take about 1.5- 2 hours. Registration is required and space is limited.

Meeting Location:
Big Trees Forest Preserve
7645 Roswell Road
Sandy Springs, Georgia 30328
