Trail Blazers Hit the Streets at City Green in June!

May 17, 2024 | Connect, HOME

Join us for a triple treat SATURDAY, JUNE 8, 8:30 am – 9:30 am, as we explore areas in and around City Green with three guest guides!

Our walk will begin with a tour of Sandy Springs’ newest park, Veterans Park, guided by City Councilman John Paulson. Councilman Paulson, a Marine Corps veteran who helped vision the park and bring it to fruition, will tell us about the special features dedicated to honoring our local veterans.

While there, we’ll get an update on road construction in the area, and Sandy Springs Conservancy and Sandy Springs Garden Club member Laura Jones will give us an update on Library Garden restoration effort. Due to road construction, we’ll reschedule a library garden visit.

We’ll next tour City Green and the outdoor public sculpture gallery without walls with our guide Linda Bain, of Arts Sandy Springs. Linda, also a founder of the Sandy Springs Conservancy, will tell us about how SSC contributed to the vision of City Green making it what it is today.

Lastly, we’ll visit the Marsh Creek Rain Garden, just a short walk from City Center, and learn more from Linda about the creation of the garden and its sculptures.

Bonus: The Sandy Springs Farmers Market will be taking place on Saturday morning, plan to stay after our walk to enjoy the market and many vendors!

Meet at the City Springs stage for the start of our triple treat Trail Blazers tour!

Trail Blazers events will be scheduled for the second Saturday of each month and take about an hour.

Participants will meet at the scheduled park or trailhead location. Each walk will last approximately one hour. Walks will be limited to 25 participants. The minimum age to participate is 10 years old, and anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants must register and sign a liability waiver online.
