Trail Blazers to Visit Brook Run Park in Dunwoody

Jun 19, 2024 | HOME, Connect

Trail Blazers takes us from the feature parks of City Springs to the signature park of Dunwoody! In July we’ll visit our neighbors to the east, when we tour Brook Run Park in Dunwoody, Saturday, July 13, 8:30 am – 9:30 am.

Our walk will be guided by Sandy Springs Recreation & Parks Director Brent Walker. Brent was the parks director for Dunwoody when Brook Run was developed, so who better to tell us about how it came about and all the amenities it offers! Plus, we’ll learn about SSC’s connection to the land that is now Brook Run Park.

At 110-acres, Brook Run Park is the largest park in Dunwoody. This signature park features a large playground, 2-mile loop multi-use trail, skate park, disc golf course, dog park, community garden, two artificial turf baseball fields, two artificial turf multisport fields, amphitheater, open fields, event pavilions, and the Treetop Quest adventure course.

Registration is required and walks are limited to 25 participants. Please register online below.

Brook Run Park
4770 N. Peachtree Rd.
Dunwoody, GA 30338

Meeting Location:

We’ll meet at 8:30 am at the front entrance of the playground.
The farmers market will probably be going on but there should be plenty of parking in the area.  The parking lot for the playground is the first right after you enter the park.
About SSC Trail Blazers

Sandy Springs Conservancy’s Trail Blazers is a series of monthly guided walks and hikes at local parks from March to October! Each month SSC Trail Blazers walks/hikes will take place at different parks in Sandy Springs and neighboring communities. SSC will provide knowledgeable guides to share the history of the parks and to lead small groups on hikes through the park and trails. Trail Blazers events will be scheduled for the second Saturday of each month and take about an hour.

Participants will meet at the scheduled park or trailhead location. Each walk will last approximately one hour. Walks will be limited to 25 participants. The minimum age to participate is 10 years old, and anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants must register and sign a liability waiver online. Registration is first come first served.  You will be contacted for cancellation/rescheduling in the case of inclement weather.
