The Pedestrian Bridge at Morgan Falls
As the vision of The Great Park developed, we realized an opportunity to create a critical hub in a regional recreation system with the construction of a pedestrian bridge across the Chattahoochee River, south of the historic Morgan Falls dam (Georgia Power Hydroelectric Plant). The pedestrian bridge would connect both east-west and north-south greenspace corridors within the greater Atlanta metropolitan area, enlarging the Great Park from a strictly local recreation site to a regional resource.
Before construction on the bridge can begin, the project must have regulatory approval through the permitting process by the federal, state, and county agencies which oversee activity on the river. The permitting process is lengthy and may take as long as 12 months to complete. The Sandy Springs Conservancy will shortly release an RFP for management of the permitting process and will be available to download as a PDF file from this page.
