The Great Park at Morgan Falls
Our flagship project, The Great Park at Morgan Falls, is an unprecedented opportunity to transform a challenging piece of land into not only a riverside park, but a hub for regional recreation and connectivity.
The heart of the Park is nearly 100 contiguous acres of forested land along the Chattahoochee River at the historic 1904 Morgan Falls Dam and Bull Sluice, the lake formed behind the dam. The Great Park will include an entry gate, a riverside picnic area, an open-air event pavilion, a canoe dock, enhanced fishing areas, hiking and bike trails, and parking.
Eventually trails will connect the Park to other important sites in Sandy Springs such as The Big Trees Forest Preserve, North Springs High School and the North Fulton Tennis Center. The Park can link, via a pedestrian bridge, to the National Park Service sites at Hyde Farm and the North Johnson Ferry in Cobb County.
Thanks to generous support from Fulton County (Commissioners Tom Lowe and the late Bob Fulton), The Georgia Power Company, Northside Hospital, Colonial Pipeline, and a private foundation, the Sandy Springs Conservancy developed the Great Park Master Plan (in PDF format/ 4MB).
Based on this plan, Eberly & Associates recently completed the design and construction drawings for Phase One, including the Park entry gate, the pavilion by Bull Sluice, walking trails, the canoe dock, and pavilion-area parking. We anticipate moving forward on construction of the entrance gate in by 4Q 2006.
